Visionary Scholarship

Visionary Scholarship

Do you have what it takes to be the next visionary leader?

The Visionary Scholarship Committee is proud to announce the official Visionary Campaign start for the 15th Annual UNAVSA Leadership Conference. This scholarship offers a first-hand experience for attendees to dive into leadership, personal & professional development, while connecting with hundreds of other community leaders across North America.

At UNAVSA, we understand that college students are burdened with financial pressures and want to lend a helping hand to those passionate and in need. In 2011, our sponsor Huy Duong, a Northern California native and former regional president, reached out to UNAVSA to expand the scholarship program. Since then, our organization has been able to able to provide six college students the opportunity to travel to UNAVSA’s Annual Leadership Conference at minimal or no cost.

This year, the scholarship will be awarded to a total of six winners – three winners from the Eastern regions and three from the Western regions. This method ensures scholarship winners are not all concentrated from one area. Recipients will be selected by the Visionary Scholarship Committee in a two-part process. For more details on the application, please see “About The Visionary Scholarship” below.

Year after year, the size of the Visionary Scholarship circle continues to grow. UNAVSA hopes to provide resources and opportunities for scholarship recipients and members foster their leadership skills, as well as their communities. We want to instill value in the ideals of culture, family, and philanthropy – all components that make communities strong and successful!

Conference Theme Tie-in to Prompt

To elaborate more on the theme, “Stand Up, Stand Out”, UNAVSA President, Thoa Kim Nguyen, explains:

“…revolving the current social climate, this year’s theme encourages attendees to confidently propel ideas into meaningful and impactful actions. There is no doubt that Asians have contributed to the growth of society, and our generation has seen strides in technological innovation and human rights. However, there are still challenges marginalized groups face. Racism, inequality, sexism, and discrimination still plague our community and overall society. Through extensive programming, UNAVSA hopes attendees not only analyze and discuss these issues in depth, but go beyond the conversation, take personal accountability in their everyday lives to eliminate these negative practices, and redefine generational identity.”

Please join UNAVSA this upcoming summer in Atlanta, as we highlight our culture and move towards a brighter future. United, we are stepping into action!
