Sponsorship

Dear Sponsors,

Since 2004, the Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations (uNAVSA) has organized annual conferences uniting young, emerging leaders within the Vietnamese American community. Drawing student leaders from colleges and universities across North America as well as working professional attendees, the uNAVSA 2008 Conference will be held in Portland, Oregon from July 31st–August 3rd, 2008. By engaging in thought-provoking workshops and activities, attendees build upon their personal leadership skills, improve upon their organizational management abilities, and become educated about social and cultural issues affecting the Vietnamese American community.

Most importantly, leadership development does not end when attendees leave the conference. Armed with newfound knowledge, relationships, and resources, uNAVSA conference attendees return to their communities to better lead and serve those around them through the Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP). At the conference, attendees learn about and select a charitable cause for which they will plan and execute a project during the following year.

Last year, the philanthropic group VOICE was chosen by the conference attendees to be the beneficiary of the CPP. Over the course of the year (2007–2008), Vietnamese students and youth organizations from around the country participated in various fundraising events and leadership summits to raise awareness and funds to support the efforts of VOICE. Participating regions included, but were not limited to: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Orange County, Portland and San Jose. Current funds raised this year exceed the $45,000 mark of which will fund the development of a human trafficking support center in Cambodia to assist Vietnamese victims of the sex trade.

By promoting knowledge acquisition and mustering collaborative action, uNAVSA’s 2008 Conference will continue to empower today’s emerging generation of leaders to better serve the communities in which they live. We are writing to you on behalf of the Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations staff to ask for your corporate sponsorship to help bring the high ambitions of our 2008 Conference staff to fruition. The programs we anticipate to bring to our attendees are currently out of the reach of our current funding. It is our hope to reach a target goal of an additional $45,000 from private and corporate contributions in order to finance the diverse programs slated for the four-day conference. In return, we will work closely with your firm to develop a promotional plan that is mutually beneficial and in-line with your interests and expectations. We will also be more than happy to provide any necessary paperwork for your tax records.

If there are any questions in regards to this request or any other concerns regarding uNAVSA, please contact one of our Sponsorship Directors,
Anthony Tran, at anthony.d.tran@unavsa.org,
Anh Nguyen, anh.nguyen@unavsa.org,
or uNAVSA’s President, Hai Ton, at hai.ton@unavsa.org.

I hope you will be able to help bring these leadership, cultural, and philanthropic programs to the Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations 2008 Conference through your financial contributions. Thank you in advance for your time and generosity.

Sincerely,

Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations
